I hate to throw myself under the bus, but math was never my strong suit as a kid. Maybe it wasn’t that I lacked the ability, but rather the motivation. Countless nights were spent in tears at the kitchen table, with a parent patiently trying to help me through my math homework. Despite the frustration, I eventually made it to high school, determined not to let math defeat me.

In a bold move, I decided to take five years’ worth of math courses within my four years of high school. This decision was driven by sheer determination, and it led to a breakthrough moment when I chose to take a statistics class. That was my light at the end of the tunnel.

The struggle through countless math classes, tutors, and summer school sessions finally paid off when I enrolled in Statistics. Suddenly, everything clicked. I was no longer the kid in the back of the class, hoping the teacher wouldn’t call on me. Instead, I found myself at the front, helping my friends understand the material. The transformation was remarkable. My statistics teacher, who had also taught me Algebra 2, played a significant role in this change. She made the class engaging and enjoyable, fully aware of my past struggles with math. Her support and teaching methods were instrumental in fostering my newfound love for statistics.

This pivotal class during my senior year led me to decide on a major in Applied Business Analytics. You may have seen me mention my degree before. I don’t do it to flaunt my accomplishments but to emphasize my passion for the industry and my job. The journey to earning that degree was filled with learning experiences that continue to surprise me every day.

While I love the marketing and personal assistance aspects of my business, my true passion lies in analytics. One of my favorite tasks is working on SEO, data tracking in newsletters, websites, and social media platforms for my clients. These activities are my bread and butter because I LOVE analyzing numbers and adapting marketing strategies, hashtags, or keywords for different funnels.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), open and click rates, Google Analytics, Tableau, and Excel are tools that provide invaluable insights into my clients’ worlds. By leveraging these tools and analyzing the data, I can identify what we’re doing right, understand what their consumers prefer, and plan for future success.

While I will continue working as a marketing assistant and personal business assistant, my goal is to better serve my clients through a stronger focus on analytics. To achieve this, I have begun the process of building a small team. This will allow me to concentrate on the analytical side of my business, ensuring that I can provide even more value to my clients.

The journey from struggling with math to thriving in the field of business analytics has been challenging yet rewarding. Each step, each tear, and each moment of frustration was worth it. Now, I am excited to see what the future holds as I continue to grow and expand my business, driven by my love for analytics.
